About RURUHONEY & Safety
What is RURUHONEY? RURUHONEY is a Malaysian botanical body and intimate care brand, founded in 2023 by Rachel, a former Regional Manager at Deloitte Southeast Asia who realised years of hectic work had left no room for her own self-care. Every product is made for women at every season of life, from pregnancy and postpartum to busy everyday life and midlife, so you never have to second-guess what you put on your skin.
Did the founder use the products herself? Yes, and it all began with her own pregnancy. Rachel used our Intense Nourishing Oil throughout her pregnancy and loved how soft and nourished it kept her skin as her bump grew, with none of the dry-skin itchiness so many mamas know. That's why she decided to share it with other mamas, and our Belly Oil followed after. Today, every RURUHONEY product is used by Rachel herself before launch, and only then goes for KKM notification and independent lab testing. If it's not good enough for her, it's not good enough for you.
Is RURUHONEY safe to use during pregnancy? Yes. Our Belly Oil, Intense Nourishing Oil, Organic Honey Shower Oil and Prebiotic Organic Feminine Wash are all formulated to be pregnancy-friendly. They're made without parabens, phthalates, SLS or synthetic fragrance, and every product is notified with Malaysia's Ministry of Health (KKM). If you have a specific medical condition or a high-risk pregnancy, please check with your doctor first.
Are RURUHONEY products lab tested for safety? Yes. Our Belly Oil and Intense Nourishing Oil were tested by an independent, SAMM-accredited Malaysian laboratory in March 2026. The lab checked for heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury) and for harmful microbes (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans and Burkholderia cepacia), plus total microbial and yeast & mould counts. Both oils came back clear: none of the four heavy metals detected, none of the tested microbes present, and no microbial or yeast and mould growth. We didn't just take our suppliers' word for it, because when it's going on your bump, "probably safe" isn't good enough.
Are RURUHONEY products dermatologically tested? Not yet, and we'd rather be honest than borrow a label. What we do have: KKM notification for every product, independent third-party lab testing on our body oils, and formulas made without parabens, sulfates, PEGs, mineral oil, artificial colours or artificial fragrance.
Are RURUHONEY products halal? Our Prebiotic Organic Feminine Wash is halal-certified by JAKIM (Ref. No. JAKIM.700-2/3/3 060-05/2026). Our Organic Honey Shower Oil is going through the JAKIM halal certification process now, and we'll update this page as soon as it's approved. Our Belly Oil and Intense Nourishing Oil are made with botanical oils and are not halal-certified.
What are RURUHONEY products free from? Our formulas are made without parabens, sulfates (SLS/SLES), phthalates, PEGs, mineral oil, artificial colours and artificial fragrance. Any scent you smell comes from natural essential oils.
Has RURUHONEY won any awards? Yes, two. Our Intense Nourishing Oil won Best Body Oil, Editor's Choice Award 2024 (Mom category) and the Tried, Tested & Loved recognition from Beauty Insider Malaysia. Our Belly Oil won Best Anti Stretch Mark Oil at the Baby Talk Awards 2025.

Body Oils: Belly Oil & Intense Nourishing Oil
What is the difference between the Belly Oil and the Intense Nourishing Oil? Think of them as day and night. The Belly Oil is our light, fast-absorbing day oil with a fresh grapefruit scent, made to keep a growing bump moisturised and comfortable. The Intense Nourishing Oil is our richer night oil with rose and lavender, for deeper nourishment on the body and face while you rest. Many mamas use both, which is why we created the Day & Night Duo.
When can I start using the Belly Oil during pregnancy? From early pregnancy. The earlier you start a daily oil ritual, the better your skin is supported as it stretches. Keep going after baby arrives too.
How do I use the body oils for stretch-mark-prone skin? Apply twice daily onto slightly damp skin after your shower, massaging in firm circular motions over the belly, hips, thighs and breasts. At night, add 1–2 drops of Intense Nourishing Oil to your Belly Oil for extra nourishment. Gentle exfoliation a few times a week helps the oil absorb better.
Will the oils feel greasy or stain my clothes? Our Belly Oil is lightweight and quick to absorb, so you can get dressed soon after applying. The Intense Nourishing Oil is richer and is best used at night.
Can I use the Intense Nourishing Oil on my face? Yes. Press 2–3 drops gently onto your face and neck at night, or mix a few drops into your usual moisturiser.
How soon will I notice a difference? Most women feel softer, more moisturised skin within a few days. Caring for stretch-mark-prone skin is about consistency, so use the oils twice daily throughout pregnancy and beyond. Everyone's skin is different, and results vary from person to person.
Are the body oils only for pregnancy? Not at all. Stretch marks and dry skin come with many life stages: growth spurts, weight changes, fitness journeys, and the drier skin many women notice in perimenopause and midlife. Our oils are for any woman who wants deeply nourished skin.
Can I use the oils while breastfeeding? Yes, you can keep up your oil ritual after baby arrives. Just avoid the nipple and areola, or gently wipe the area clean before each feed, so your little one only gets you.
Prebiotic Organic Feminine Wash
What makes the Prebiotic Organic Feminine Wash different? It's a gentle, pH-balanced foaming wash with prebiotics, organic aloe vera, centella asiatica, honey, chamomile and kacip fatimah. It's made without SLS, SLES, parabens or artificial fragrance, so it cleanses without stripping your delicate area.
Is the feminine wash safe during pregnancy, my period and postpartum? Yes. It's gentle enough for daily use, including during pregnancy, menstruation and postpartum. For external use only.
Is the feminine wash halal-certified? Yes. Our Prebiotic Organic Feminine Wash is halal-certified by JAKIM (Ref. No. JAKIM.700-2/3/3 060-05/2026).
How do I use the feminine wash? Wet the external area with water, pump a small amount of foam onto your hand, massage gently, then rinse well. Use it once or twice daily.
Organic Honey Shower Oil
What is a shower oil? A shower oil looks like an oil in the bottle but turns into a soft lather when it meets water. It cleanses gently without leaving skin feeling tight or dry. Ours is made with organic honey, camellia (tsubaki) and sunflower seed oils, and a light natural essential oil scent.
Is the Organic Honey Shower Oil pregnancy-friendly? Yes. It's gentle, made without mineral oil, parabens or artificial fragrance, and is suitable for everyday use during pregnancy and beyond.
Who is the shower oil for? Anyone whose regular body wash leaves skin feeling tight or dry, women at every life stage, and families who want one gentle wash to share.
